Five citizens elected from our community comprise the Board of Education, which regularly meets to consider reports and recommendations from the Superintendent and Treasurer of the School District.
Setting policy and taking action to assure these policies are carried out is the primary responsibility of the Board.
Board members must study numerous reports and background information to be prepared for these meetings.
The Board meetings are planned in advance and include topics proposed by the superintendent, board members, and the treasurer. After discussion, votes are taken on the proposed recommendations.
The Fairbanks Board of Education usually meets on the third Monday of every month and meetings are open to the public. Announcements and schedule changes can be found in the Marysville Journal Tribune and online. If you wish to address the board, you may fill out a short form at the beginning of the meeting and give it to the treasurer. If you are presenting as part of a group, the board requires the name of your spokesperson.
You are always welcome to attend our board meetings, and we hope you become an active member of our school community.
Thank you,
Fairbanks Board of Education
