Classified Positions
Throughout the year, we may have openings for Classified positions. These are positions that do not require a teaching license. All school staff are required to pass an FBI and BCI background check.

Pay: Salary based on current classified salary schedule and experience.
Job description: Fairbanks Local Schools has an immediate opening for a full-time Second Shift Custodian. All buildings are on a shared campus within walking distance of each other.
Hours are Monday to Friday from 3:00pm to 11:30pm with an unpaid 30 minute lunch break. This is a 254 day contract per year, with paid holidays included. Starting pay is $18.50, but can be awarded step increases with applicable experience.
Overtime, and weekend, hours may be needed to cover sporting events and other events on campus.
During the summer, the schedule is shifted to 6:30am to 3:00pm.
Full-time employees are eligible for medical, dental, vision insurance, life insurance, SERS retirement plan, and paid time off (sick and personal leave). Vacation is awarded after one year of service.

Job description: Fairbanks Local Schools is seeking a full-time Elementary Secretary for the 2026-27 school year.
This position will be working in our PK-5 elementary school under the supervision of the elementary principal.
Hours are Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 3:30pm with an unpaid 30 minute lunch break (7.5 hours per day). This is a 210 day contract per year, with paid holidays included. The contract runs from August 1st - Second week of June with 7 weeks off in the summer.
Starting pay is $17.69, but can be awarded step increases with applicable experience.

Job description: Fairbanks Local Schools is seeking a part-time Special Education Secretary for the 2026-27 school year.
The Special Education Secretary provides clerical support to the district’s Special Education Department (PK-12), assisting the Special Education Administrator with paperwork related tasks. This role is responsible for managing student records and supporting compliance with state and federal regulations. This position requires professionalism, strong organizational skills, and the ability to handle sensitive information while supporting the overall success of the Special Education program.
This position is limited to 15 hours per week. Work days will be decided between the applicant and Special Education Coordinator at hiring. Starting pay is $17.47, but can be awarded step increases with applicable experience.

Job description:
Fairbanks Local Schools is seeking a part-time Special Educational Aide for the 2026-27 school year.
This position will be working with special education students in our district. This can be one-on-one with a student, or working in a classroom setting.
Hours are Monday to Friday from 8:35 am to 3 pm with an unpaid 30 minute lunch break (5.92 hours per day). This is a 186 day contract per year, with paid holidays included. Starting pay is $16.73, but can be awarded step increases with applicable experience. This position also qualifies for a $1,500 yearly stipend.
The building assignment has not been determined for this position, but will be assigned over the summer. It is subject to change, as needed, to accommodate student and staffing needs. All three school buildings are located on one campus.
